Imagine Canada celebrates International Volunteer Day with the launch of the Nonprofit Library Commons and local Community Collections in five nonprofit and voluntary organizations in Ontario (December 5, 2005)
Imagine Canada, along with Volunteer & Information Kingston and four other communities in Ontario, has launched the Nonprofit Library Commons and local Community Collections.
The Nonprofit Library Commons connects library users to free local sources of information on fund raising, volunteer and human resource management, nonprofit boards and governance and related capacity building resources for stronger, more effective nonprofit and voluntary sector organizations. Through the Commons, library users may also access the largest collection of Canadian nonprofit literature in the world. The Imagine Canada - John Hodgson Library is available on Imagine Canada's public information portal at www.nonprofitscan.ca. Eighty percent of the library's current titles are available in downloadable formats (free).
Voluntary and nonprofit organizations throughout Ontario can now benefit from increased access to library resources and services thanks to an innovative partnership between Imagine Canada and sixteen community partners supported by a five-year investment from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
