Kingston School Of Art

The Kingston School of Art (KSOA) is a non-profit charitable organization. Formed in 1994 and governed by a community-based volunteer Board of Directors, KSOA is supported by fundraising, student fees, donations and grants. Its mission is to provide cost-effective year-round art classes, have studio-based hands-on instruction and provide practical artistic experiences. Through the creation of an inclusive and supportive environment, KSOA art space encourages artistic individuality and innovation, as well as cultivates an appreciation of the arts within the greater community. KSOA also runs the Window Art Gallery (WAG), a non-profit volunteer run community art gallery which was established in May 2011.

Kingston Health Sciences Centre is southeastern Ontario’s complex, acute and specialty care, research and teaching hospital.  We care for more than 500,000 patients and their families from across our region. Volunteers are active at our Hotel Dieu site, Kingston General site, the Cancer Centre of SE Ontario, the Detoxification Centre and the Eating Disorders Clinic.

Kingston Frontenac Public Library is a 16 branch public library system serving the City of Kingston and Frontenac County.  Our primary purpose is to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone in Kingston Frontenac. We aim to achieve this purpose by helping residents transform today’s vast information resources into the solutions, facts, know-how, inspiration, and entertainment they need to learn, solve problems, read, engage with their community and reach their personal aspirations.

Kingston Field Naturalists

The Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) is a nature club and charitable organization, active since 1949. Its objectives are the preservation of wildlife and natural habitats, and the stimulation of people’s interest in nature. The Club membership has a diversity of interests in nature, so a variety of activities take place year-round. Bird watching trips, nature rambles, wildflower walks and other field trips are led by knowledgeable individuals from both within and outside the Club. Each May the public is invited to join a series of bird walks. Monthly meetings are normally open to both members and the public. They feature guest speakers including naturalists, scientists, conservationists and photographers who speak on a wide range of subjects. Meetings are currently in-person with an option to join via video conference. Members regularly participate in hands-on conservation projects such as habitat stewardship and wildlife surveys.

Kingston Fall Fair

The Kingston Fall Fair is hosted by the Kingston & District Agricultural Society for over 200 years, making it one of Kingston's longest running events! The fair takes place September 17 - 20 at the Kingston Memorial Centre, 303 York Street. This event includes livestock and heritage skills competitions, 4-H achievement days, horse shows, the Country Singing Showdown, a huge midway, demolition derbies, monster trucks and more. We appreciate all the help we can get to make this a memorable event for more than 25,000 people who attend each year. We strive to offer a fun and educational experience for the whole family, to help connect urban and rural residents, and increase awareness of agriculture in our region.

Kingston Community Land Trust

The goal of a community land trust is to acquire property, and provide affordable housing for the community in which they are established. We do that by pooling, grants, donations, and private loans to buy residential buildings at market value and hold them in a trust for the long term benefit of the community. The long term community benefit is secured through land lease agreements and democratic governance of the Land Trust as a non-profit. Think of it like a co-op for the entire City of Kingston. A co-op that you are entitled to membership in by virtue of being someone who lives, or works in the City of Kingston. Members vote on the election of board members, acquisitions, allocation of funds, and the initiation of community projects. The community land trust model is flexible meaning that we can mold it to bring the largest benefit to the Kingston community. Whether we want to provide affordable high-quality rentals to the students and low income residents of the City, or open up new avenues to homeownership in the City the community land trust model has been proven to reduce the cost of housing in the areas they operate in. We are still in the startup phase, so if you are interested in helping craft the vision and path of this new not-for-profit reach out! Kingston Animal Rescue

Founded in 2010, Kingston Animal Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue group. We rescue and find forever homes for animals in need. We are a registered charity. (83024 4802 RR0001). Using a network of foster homes, we take in last chance animals - animals that are at high risk of euthanasia or those that would otherwise be at risk without our help. This includes animals at shelters and stray animals. We also assist in emergency rescues, including small animals removed from neglectful situations. As a no-kill rescue, our animals stay in foster homes until they are adopted. We work to educate the public about the proper care and treatment of animals as well as the pet overpopulation crisis and the importance of spaying/neutering and adoption.
