A Greener Future

Nonprofit

A Greener Future is an environmental non-profit dedicated to leading the effort in sustaining a clean and healthy environment. By bringing together a community of volunteers and environmental stewards, we facilitate programs that eliminate waste from the environment. As education is at the centre of what we do, we inspire change through a variety of learning opportunities. Our programs raise awareness about plastic pollution in the Great Lakes Region, and detailed data collection sheds a light on the most common items that are found during litter cleanups. Together our impact is wide-reaching, bringing us one step closer to our goal.

The Kingston Field Naturalists (KFN) is a nature club and charitable organization, active since 1949. Its objectives are the preservation of wildlife and natural habitats, and the stimulation of people’s interest in nature. Algonquin to Adirondacks Collaborative

Nonprofit

The Algonquin to Adirondacks Collaborative (A2A) is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing a critical wildlife corridor connecting Algonquin Park in Ontario and Adirondack Park in New York. We formed from the recognition that conserving this globally significant landscape—one of the last large-scale, intact forest and wetland linkages in Eastern North America—requires a collaborative, grassroots effort. As a backbone organization, we facilitate collaboration, research, and project development among a wide array of local partners, including land trusts, Indigenous groups, community associations, and academic institutions. Our work is driven by a deep understanding of local ecosystems and community needs, ensuring that our conservation efforts are both science-based and locally rooted.

Kingston Animal Rescue

Nonprofit

Founded in 2010, Kingston Animal Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue group. We rescue and find forever homes for animals in need. We are a registered charity. (83024 4802 RR0001). Using a network of foster homes, we take in last chance animals - animals that are at high risk of euthanasia or those that would otherwise be at risk without our help. This includes animals at shelters and stray animals. We also assist in emergency rescues, including small animals removed from neglectful situations. As a no-kill rescue, our animals stay in foster homes until they are adopted. We work to educate the public about the proper care and treatment of animals as well as the pet overpopulation crisis and the importance of spaying/neutering and adoption.

Driftwood Theatre

Nonprofit

A (MUSICAL) MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect outdoor summer theatre experience for the entire family. Four lovers and one group of hapless tradespeople experience a chaos-filled night in the forest as they stumble across the mischievous Puck and the magical denizens of the faery kingdom. “It’s about community, companionship and love,” remarks Driftwood Artistic Director Jeremy Smith. “Dream reminds us of the importance of putting down our devices, stepping away from our screens, and making the kind of tangible connections which encourage empathy, understanding and respect.” Using Shakespeare’s text A (musical) Midsummer Night’s Dream is a rocking, rolling, funktastic, jazz-infused musical celebration of theatrical proportions; with everything performed live and entirely A Cappella. Originally created in 2004 and performed again in 2012, A (musical) Midsummer Night’s Dream reunites composers Kevin Fox (The Swingle Singers, Cadence) and Tom Lillington (Nathaniel Dett Chorale, Hampton Avenue) with director Jeremy Smith.
